Purpose of the Position: 

  • To assess and evaluate lending applications for clients based on sound credit risk and affordability assessments, financial principles and credit policies which will support growth of the asset book and manage credit losses by ensuring sound lending credit principles are applied at all times and that lending is within the Kuleni’s risk appetite parameters. To ensure an effective, efficient, and service oriented administration of the Home Loan unit

Key Performance Area

  • Makes prudent credit decisions on lending applications and within the framework of the Housing Finance Policy, sound financial principles and relevant laws.
  • Ensure timeous, efficient and accurate collection of repayments.
  • Manage good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders such as GIPF, the Office of the Prime Minister, various government offices, local and regional councils, NAMFISA, including external attorneys and industry experts (where required).
  • Lead the integration of customer-centric strategies (key stakeholders being the customers) and solutions for the organization. 
  • Identify and keep up to date on key national policies on housing and economic, political, and relevant social trends that could affect the business of Kuleni. 
  • Continuous evaluation of the credit assessment process to ensure effective and streamlined processes.
  • Manage employment, performance, transfer, promotions and disciplinary hearings of staff and where appropriate, make recommendations to the CEO in accordance with approved policies and regulations.
  • Ensures checking of work processes on a regular basis to ensure that it is done according to agreed steps.

Job-related Qualifications & Experience 

  • Degree in Business Administration/Accounting/Finance/Financial Management and/or a commerce related field.
  • A Credit diploma will be an added advantage
  • Five (5) years’ experiences in the Home loan administration. At least 3 years’ supervisory experience and experience in credit assessment, preferably in the housing finance space.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of financial statements
  • Knowledge and understanding of repayment structures, collateral and collection processes within the financial services environment. 
  • Understanding of legalities associated with lending and collateral.  

The incumbent should have the following knowledge, skills and Attributes:

Knowledge of:  

Processes of home loans, auditing of data, basic accounting principles, basic actuarial understanding, calculations modules and interest rate, control processes and checks, manual procedures for calculating loan interest and repayments, and pension fund industry/environment rules and regulations. 

Skill: Administration, advising, analytical, change management, complaints handling, customer service, evaluation, feedback, interpersonal, verbal communication, report writing and supervision skills. 

Personal Attributes:  Approachable, Assertive, emotionally matured, confidentiality, integrity, cultural sensitivity, high stress tolerance, patient, sense of urgency and result orientation.
